Where do we meet?
We’ll pick you up and drop you off wherever it’s easiest for you—YIA Airport, Borobudur-Magelang, downtown Yogyakarta, your hotel, or the train station. Just let us know what works.
What should you wear?
Stick with comfy athletic clothes, solid hiking or sports boots, and a hat, and bring a jacket. And really, don’t skip the sunscreen.
We’ll swing by to pick you up anytime between 6 and 9:30 in the morning, whether you’re at your hotel, the airport, or the train station. The drive to the Merbabu basecamp takes about two and a half hours. You can just kick back, relax, and watch the city fade into the countryside.
When we get there, you’ll have about an hour to settle in and grab some lunch—a good local meal to get you ready for the trek.
The hike up to camp usually takes four to five hours. We’ll take our time, stop for photos, and just enjoy the views along the way. At the campsite, there’s time to catch the sunset, have dinner, and settle in for a night under the stars.
Wake up early—it’s summit day. Grab a snack or some hot coffee, and we’ll head out before sunrise. The final climb takes about an hour, and the sunrise from the top is absolutely worth it.
After taking it all in, we’ll head back to camp for breakfast and a little rest. Once you’re ready, pack up and we’ll start the hike back down to basecamp, which takes about three to four hours.
At basecamp, your driver will be ready and waiting. Then it’s two and a half hours. Drive back to Yogyakarta—straight to your hotel, the airport, or the train station, wherever you need to go.
