Exploring Yogyakarta’s Temples: From Prambanan to Borobudur
First up is Yogyakarta—locals call it Jogja—a city buzzing with life, colorful markets, and deep roots in history. We’ll start at the legendary Prambanan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’ll stop you in your tracks with its soaring spires and detailed stone carvings. And it gets better: you’ll catch a traditional dance performance right there, soaking in the culture up close.
We won’t stop there. Next is Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist temple, and honestly, it’s breathtaking. The detailed carvings and massive stupas are impressive, but the real magic happens at sunrise. Standing on the temple as the first light breaks over the horizon—it’s a moment you won’t forget.
Java’s Hidden Gems: Uncovering Tumpak Sewu’s Thousand Waterfalls & Mount Bromo: An Epic Adventure in Indonesia’s Volcanic Landscape
After we’ve feasted on culture, it’s time to chase a little adventure. We’ll head to Tumpak Sewu, known as the “thousand waterfalls.” The hike down is a thrill, surrounded by lush green cliffs and the sound of rushing water. Take a dip at the base—nothing wakes you up like cool, clear water after the trek.
Then, we set our sights on Mount Bromo. Sunrise here is pure magic. Whether you climb up Penanjakan Hill or Kingkong Hill, you’ll catch panoramic views of the smoking volcano and wild volcanic landscape. Want more adrenaline? Hop in a jeep or saddle up for a horseback ride to the best vantage points.
The Ultimate Adventure: 5 Days Exploring Yogyakarta, Bromo, and Ijen
Finally, we wrap things up at the legendary Ijen Crater. Here’s where you’ll see something truly rare—the blue fire. Only two places in the world offer this phenomenon. The climb to the summit is tough, but peering into the turquoise crater lake while sulfur miners work below is something you’ll remember forever.
In just five days, you’ll dive into centuries of culture, hike through some of the most beautiful places on earth, and take on real adventure. Come on—don’t just dream about it. Book your spot, and let’s explore Yogyakarta, Bromo, and Ijen together!

5 Days, 4 Nights Itinerary
Yogyakarta, Bromo, and Ijen Adventure, including Tumpak Sewu Waterfall
Welcome to Yogyakarta! As soon as you land, your driver’s already there, holding up a sign with your name—easy. No time to waste, you're heading straight to Borobudur Temple. This place is a UNESCO World Heritage site for a reason, and honestly, seeing it in person is something else. Take your time wandering around; snap as many photos as you want. After that, you’ll head to your hotel. The evening’s wide open, so just relax and settle in at your own pace.
Grab a good breakfast, then it’s off to Prambanan Temple, another must-see. Up close, the temple’s even more impressive—those carvings are wild. Once you’ve had your fill, you’ll hit the road for Cemoro Lawang Village, right by Mount Bromo. It’s a long drive, about seven hours, but there are stops for lunch and to stretch your legs. Once you get there, check in and take it easy. You’ll want to rest up for tomorrow’s early start.
Set that alarm—3 AM comes fast. Hop in a 4WD jeep and ride up to Penanjakan or Kingkong Hill for sunrise. Watching the sun come up behind Mount Bromo? Pure magic. Afterward, you’ll cross the Sea of Sand and climb up to the rim of Bromo Crater. Then it’s back for breakfast, time to pack up, and you’re on the road again. It’s about two and a half hours to Lumajang. Once you arrive, check into your hotel near Tumpak Sewu and relax—you’ve earned it.
Today’s all about nature. You’ll visit Tumpak Sewu Waterfall and Goa Tetes—both are stunning, and you’ll want your camera. After exploring, head back to the hotel, check out, and drive to Bondowoso. You’ll check in there, nice and close to Ijen for tomorrow’s adventure.
Another early wake-up—this time at 1 AM. After checking out, you’ll drive to the Ijen Paltuding Post and start your hike up Mount Ijen in the dark. It feels adventurous, and at the top, you’ll see the famous blue fire and that surreal turquoise crater lake. Take your time, soak it all in, then head back down for breakfast. When you’re ready, your driver takes you to Ketapang Ferry Port. Hop on the ferry to Bali, and your next adventure begins. Safe travels—hope to see you again!

From the very beginning, it was clear that everything was organized down to the smallest details. On the first day, he took us to the stunning Borobudur & Prambanan Temples, and the next day we experienced the sunrise at Mount Bromo and hiked up to the crater. Afterwards we visited the Madakaripura falls. What makes Hengki truly special is not just his excellent planning, but also how genuinely pleasant he is to be around. He’s funny, thoughtful, and really tunes into what the group needs. He checks the weather and adjusts plans accordingly, always thinking ahead – from bringing lights for early morning viewpoints to masks for the dusty crater, and making sure we always had plenty of drinkable water. So thoughtful!A big bonus: Hengki takes lots of great photos and videos during the tour, which made for such lovely memories afterwards. We really appreciated having those moments captured. He’s also very flexible and open to spontaneous ideas. We had an amazing and wonderful experience during our stay in Yogyakarta. A big shot out to Hengki!!!!Posted on Roving59025018842Verified Adventurous and memorable trip in Jogja. I get to know Hengki's service in Apr 2024 from FB by someone I knew who wrote a very positive review on Hengki's service. My friends and I were planed to visit Jogja in Nov, so I give it try to connect Hengki via WhatsApp in early Apr 2024 for our Nov trip. Hengki was so responsive and given me all the information I needed about Yogyakarta. He patiently responded to my request in changing the itinerary despite I have not paying him any deposit to confirm if we are hiring him for his service. From the communication via WhatsApp, I found Hengki is a very reliable person and we decided to hire him as our driver. Finally we met Hengki on Nov 02. He is such an organised person and took his own initiative to check the weather and rearrange the itinerary to avoid disruption on each of our itinerary. Hengki also recommended us for good food and where to buy oleh oleh home. We are so great to have Hengki to host us during our 5D4N stay in Jogja. We will definitely recommend his service to anyone if planning to visit Jogja.Load more
